Chapter 08

Amaan's POV

I was continuously checking my phone for any messages but there's nothing. Other days there won't be any messages but for my time there are many messages on my phone but what I'm expecting is not here.

As I entered the conference room as it's the time for the monthly meeting. When we were halfway through the meeting my phone buzzed, I glanced down under the table, she replied. As I couldn't control my grin I looked up to see some shocked faces as they saw some ghosts.

I coughed, hiding my grin.
"Let's end today's meeting, we will keep it on another day" I said and came to my cabin to text her 😁

Capital letters (text in the phone)

Isha - OKAY, I REACHED THE PLACE.

Amaan - OKAY, TAKE CARE.

(End of the text message)

Now it's time for me to shine up, I stood up and rechecked my outfit.

I drive fast because it's not safe out there and my butterfly is an angel, she trusts everyone easily. As I reached, I parked my car in the lot.
Entered the shelter. She is sitting in the corner of the puppy section surrounded by a bunch of puppies and she looked cute too.
I secretly snapped some of her pics and walked towards her.
The shelter smelled like shampoo and sawdust, and it was full of soft whimpers and happy barks.

She turned her head to see me as he heard my shoe sound. And now I'm proud of myself as she started to check me out, soon she came out of her thoughts and got embarrassed as she is checking me openly and I have caught it.

I didn't want her to get embarrassed as I'm her's, she can't check me out anytime. I didn't tell her anything because she will get more embarrassed

I initiated the conversation first,

Amaan - did you select ?

Isha - still not come let's go to the other side.

I nodded at her, and went behind her.
I stood still, hands in my pocket, watching as Isha knelt in front of a pen full of wriggling golden retriever puppies.

"This one looks like trouble," she said, pointing to a round-bellied fluffball tugging at another pup's tail.

Amaan chuckled. "Exactly why we shouldn't pick him."

"But look at his face," Isha said, scooping the puppy up as it tried to gnaw on her sleeve. "He's literally smiling."

The puppy squirmed in her arms and sneezed.

Amaan came closer, eyes softening as the little ball of fur licked Isha's chin. "You're going to spoil him."

"Of course I am," she said, grinning. "You'll be the strict parent. I'll be the fun one."

I raised an eyebrow. "I didn't realize we were co-parenting already."

She laughed. "Too late. You're in."

Amaan looked at the puppy, then at Isha. Something about the moment-her eyes, the tiny paw clinging to her sleeve-tugged at him.

"Alright," I said. "Let's take him home."

The puppy barked in agreement.

"Okay now, let's select the kitten" she said and we went towards another room.

This room was quiet, save for the soft rustle of paws and the occasional purring. Rows of enclosures lined the shelter walls, each with a curious pair of eyes behind the glass.

Isha was already crouched in front of one of them, her face lit with excitement. Inside, a tiny gray kitten batted at the air, chasing nothing in particular.

"This one's clearly got personality," she said, pointing as the kitten leapt and missed its landing entirely.

Amaan leaned over, peering into the enclosure. "You mean no coordination."

"Same thing," Isha said, laughing. She tapped the glass lightly, and the kitten tilted its head at her like it had just been asked a very important question.

"She's got your attitude," i said, smirking. "Tiny, dramatic, thinks she owns the room."

Isha gave him a playful shove. "That's why you like her."

She gently opened the enclosure door, and the kitten immediately climbed into her lap without hesitation, purring like a tiny motor.

"See?" Isha whispered, stroking behind the kitten's ears. "She picked us."

Amaan watched as the kitten curled into a sleepy ball on her knee, one paw resting on Isha's wrist like a claim. He didn't say anything for a moment, just smiled.

"I guess that settles it," I said. "We're taking her home."

"Her name's Moon," Isha said instantly.

I raised an eyebrow. "You already named her?"

"I just had a feeling," she said.

"What the puppy then" I asked. "His name is Monti" as she named I shook my as she had already planned everything, my exciting girl.

I looked back at the kitten again, gray and sleepy and somehow perfect. "So did I."

Okay then let's take them together and we will have some food as I'm hungry now 😁

"Okay then, let's go." Me and Isha went to the payment sector to pay its amount. I carried the retriever and she had the kitten.

With the other hand, I got to hold her hand and lead her to the exit of the shelter.
