Isha's POV
The lights dimmed. A soft golden glow bathed the room, and for a second, it felt like the world just paused.
I was standing there, caught in the middle of family chatter, dessert trays, and the overpowering scent of jasmine. I figured this would be the part where someone raised a toast, or maybe where my overly emotional aunt pulled me aside to cry about how she'd "changed my diapers once."
What I didn't expect at all was the entire crowd parting like a scene straight out of a Shah Rukh Khan movie.
And there he was.
Amaan.
Walking toward me with that stupid, irresistible grin the one that always said, I'm about to do something reckless, and you're going to love it.
"Amaan?" I said, half-smiling, half-ready to kill him if this was another one of his over-the-top pranks.
"No filmy lines," he said as he stopped in front of me. "Just a simple question."
Then of course, he dropped to one knee.
The entire room gasped like we were on live TV.
"Will you keep being my partner in crime, food critic, mood fixer and now, officially, my forever headache?"
Laughter broke out. Mine included. I covered my face at a full-on 90s heroine moment. I could feel my eyes stinging, and it wasn't the mascara.
"You rehearsed that, didn't you?" I managed, my voice barely holding together.
"Only like... twelve times."
I reached out, grabbed his hand, and pulled him up. "Yes. Obviously."
Cheers erupted. Confetti flew. Hall blasted "Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai," and my mom and his mom finally did cry. It was perfect.
Author's POV
Pandith ji "With this ceremony, we bless the couple's union and prepare the path ahead."
Isha and Amaan exchange rings. Applause erupts. The cousins throw flower petals in the air.
Abimaan(grabbing mic)
"Raise your hands if you thought Amaan would never fall in love. Right? Well, Isha.. you're a miracle. Or a magician."
Laughter erupts. Amaan rolls his eyes.
Nisha (teasing)
"On behalf of the bride's side: Isha, blink twice if you need rescue."
Raashi (Isha's Mom) gets up, holding back tears. "Isha always wanted a partner who'd see her, challenge her, and stand by her. Amaan, that's you."
Karthik puts a hand on Aman's shoulder.
"And we welcome Isha not as a guest but as our own."
As everyone claps, Deepthi stays seated, clapping politely but not smiling.
Kamini leans toward her and whispers, "They've already won the crowd."
Deepthi quietly: "Let them have the moment. This isn't over."
Deepthi, looking between Isha and Amaan in an unreadable expression
Isha's POV
Before I could even process that showdown, my college friends grabbed me and Amaan and dragged us to the dance floor. No escape.
The DJ switched to old-school Bollywood, and suddenly we were dancing like maniacs. No moves, no shame just pure, messy happiness.
I twirled. Amaan almost fell. Nisha Filmed everything. Our mom cried again. Kamini bua sulked near the punch bowl, and the world was, for once, exactly as it should be.
And in the middle of it all, Amaan leaned into Isha's ear and whispered, "Next chapter's going to be wild."
Isha smiled. "As long as it's ours, I'm in."
I looked at him. This boy. This chaos. This life.
"As long as it's ours," I said, "I'm in."
Monto the puppy runs in wearing a tiny flower necklace. Moon the kitten peeks out from under a table.
Amaan kneels to catch Monto, and Isha joins him, their hands brushing. Someone snaps a photo.
Nisha "This one's going on the wedding invite."
Laughter erupts.
As it was end of our function, and fun we had together, now all I feel was numbness from the exhaustion and I couldn't feel my feet because of the heels.
All I want to sleep, sleep and sleep that's it. As soon as I entered my room removed my dress, took a wash and wored my pyjama then slept. Nothing else came to my mind as is went to the deep sleep even in that I felt someone covering me with sheets as I thought it was papa, then next word made me smile even through the sleep
"Good night butter, sleep well, love you" by kissing my forehead, it's him not my papa.
With a satisfied smile I returned back to my flight mode.
Let's see how the next events turns out, hoping it will be okay as today.
Thank you for reading 😊
See you in the next chapter
